Joseph Carlos (1967)

I was really shocked and saddened to find out in 2010, that you had passed away in 1966. We all knew you as Chipper. My reason for connecting to the MOVAL website was to see if I could get information on how you were doing. To see if you had survived the VietnamWar, as so many of our fellow brothers and sisters had not.

Never imagining that you had left us so many years ago. Not graduating with your classmates, not experiencing the many joys of life, as most of us have.

I had moved out to Sunnymead in Jan. of 1964 from Massachusetts with my two sisters and my mother. Being new to MOVAL you struck up a friendship with me. I recall that you had moved recently yourself fromEngland that may have been why we became friends, we had something in common. I remember you telling me stories of how in England school would be cancelled because of fog.

Your father whose name was also Robert, was a Lt. Colonel in the Air Force stationed at March Air Force Base which is where you resided. I remember that your home was on a small block all by itself. I used to walk to the base and meet you at the gate, so we could hang out at your home.

You were the one that introduced me to the Rolling Stones, which was your favorite group and became mine when you first played their first album at your home. You also attended the Rolling Stones' first concert in the USA at San Bernadino.

We had another mutual friend Bob Howard, that sometimes would walk with me to the base to hang around with you.

We all miss you Chipper, my prayers go out to you and your family.

Your friend Joseph Carlos Jr.
