Maynard Thomas just mailed Royce that Mike Stokes Obit. It is from the Williamson County Sun, Texas. It states that Mike Stokes of Riverside CA. Passed away April 22, 2009. It shows a photo of Mike and list all his surviving family. Mike was born Sept 22, 1947.

Mike was with the first class to graduate at Moreno Valley and Played Football for Myron Tarkanian and the Vikings... Mike is remembered by other classmates as one who always hit hard and you felt it if you were the object of his lesson.  He was well liked and was a role model to his peers and juniors alike.  Mike will be missed and remembered

So sorry to hear about Mike Stokes passing. Mike was "fierce". He was so fierce that when football Coach Tarkanian called his "three whistle drill" during practice, the first thing guys did was to see where Mike was. They did not want to be standing by him. Heck, I would give him room and I did not play football. There was however, a side that some folks did not see. Mike had this wonderful and genuine cheeky grin and his eyes lit up when he was touched by something. He was a great guy who lived life his way, no excuses. I am proud to have called you my friend. Rest in peace Mike you are already missed. - Rick Coplin
