Tonda Moore (Ward) (1975)

In the early 1960's, and before, Sunnymead children were under the Riverside Unified School district for their educations. There was no high school and only one jr. high. High school students went in to Poly High, then located at what is now Rverside Community College, for their schooling. My father, Jack Ward, and some other men felt this should change. They helped form the Moreno Valley Unified School District. Following that formation, came Moreno Valley High School! My dad was voted shortly there after, the first president of the school board. I can remember, as a small kid, EVERYONE in town went to the Friday night football games and to the homecoming parade down Sunnymead Blvd! When I saw the "big kids" I couldn't wait to be big enough to go to MVHS! I am a proud alumni of the class of 1975!
To the day he died, my dad loved Sunnymead with all his heart and was proud to have grown up there. He and his family had moved to Sunnymead in 1922, and he attended the old Midland School (one room) on Alessandro Blvd. in what was then, Moreno.

Sincerely,
Tonda Ward Moore

I knew him growing up as a member of Sunnymead church of Christ. He was a nice guy.
